Whew.

Measure ER, the Los Angeles County half-cent sales tax intended to backfill cuts to health services in President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, is passing with nearly all votes tallied after June 2 – but by the barest of margins. As Jon Regardie recently wrote in Golden State, the roughly 50-50 split suggests deep political divisions in L.A.

But Measure ER’s expected photo finish doesn’t paint the full picture of county residents’ willingness to pay more for basic services.
