By now, it should come as no surprise to voters in California and other Democratic states that the Trump administration canceled Biden-era clean-energy grants based solely on politics. But even by the standards of this presidency – where the commander in chief fancies himself a king and sics his immigration goons on the bluest cities within blue states – this level of brazen score-settling is stunning.

As the New York Times reported Friday, President Trump’s Department of Energy admitted in a court filing earlier this month that it decided to withdraw funding for projects based solely on whether they were located “in a Blue State or a non-Blue State.”

There it is. Another impeachable offense, with the motive in writing. No walking back after Trump’s off-the-cuff statements. No clarifying of earlier statements.
