California elections aren't 'rigged,' but they could use some scrutiny

Trump's never-ending cries of fraud notwithstanding, the state should take a hard look at some of the far-reaching voting reforms enacted since 2015.

California elections aren't 'rigged,' but they could use some scrutiny
A screengrab from a video posted on X by the Los Angeles County registrar shows ballot processing in the City of Industry on June 8.

Here we go again. For at least a decade, people who didn’t like the choices made by Californians (mainly Republicans) lobbed baseless accusations of fraud after each election.

Donald Trump, for example, won the 2016 presidential election but was still grumpy over losing the popular vote to Hillary Clinton. He declared that it must have been due to “millions of people who voted illegally” and blamed California and other Democratic states.

He had no evidence (and still doesn’t), but that’s never mattered: The slander by Trump and other Republicans against California’s election system continues.
